After appearing as a child artiste in a film, Mithra kurian starred in two Tamil films, before essaying lead female roles and gaining attention in Malayalam cinema world. Mithra’s portrayal of Sethulakshmi in Bodyguard (2010) won her critical acclaim and she went on to reprise the role in its Tamil remake too. Mithra’s another notable role was in Rama Ravanan starring actor Suresh Gopi.
Mithra Kurian – Film career
Mithra first appeared in a small role as a child artiste in the year 2005 film Mayookham directed by T. Hariharan, following which Mithra took a break from acting and concentrated on her studies. Mithra was then casted by director Siddique in a supporting role for his Tamil film Sadhu Miranda, after he found Mithra on a cover of an issue of the magazine Grihalakshmi. Afterwards, Mithra starred in another Tamil film, the low-budget venture Suriyan Satta Kalloori, which was panned by critics.
Mithra subsequently appeared in notable Malayalam film, and gained considerable attention, by her choice of characters in films like Gulumal: The Escape and Bodyguard. Mithra was the lead actress in the comedy flick Gulumal, which became one of the top hits of the year. She appeared as a supporting character in the Dileep-starrer Bodyguard, again under Siddique’s direction, which became another hit. Gaining critical acclaim for her performance as Sethulakshmi, she was selected by Siddique to reprise the role in its Tamil remake, Kaavalan, as well. Mithra will be seen with a new slim look for her latest malayalam movie London Dreams.
